The final year in Junior Primary allows the boys to identify how best to learn. They will address such questions as What makes a good speller? What do good readers do? How do I conduct an experiment? What problem solving steps will help me complete this Maths investigation? What do I do if I donâ€™t understand?
Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV Junior School boys in Year Two are provided with opportunities that enable them to develop their ability to both work and play confidently and consistently within the whole school community. The school focuses on the development of skills and understandings related to Physical, Personal and Social Learning, Discipline Based Learning and Interdisciplinary Learning.
The boys will develop skills that promote thinking processes and communication. It is important each boy is aware of the need to reflect on their learning, monitor their progress, ask questions and develop and compare explanations.
It is the expectation that boys in Year Two will accept greater responsibility for their learning and behavior by displaying independence and initiative in task completion. Boys are expected to seek advice, collaborate with peers and accept assistance when necessary. The ability to concentrate for longer periods, use time wisely and present work in an acceptable manner is desired. It is important that boys function effectively and cooperatively in group activities by contributing to tasks and discussions and by listening to others.
They will have spent time mastering competencies in a range of academic areas, including the development of fundamental literacy and numeracy skills, which form a strong foundation for future learning.
